A feis is an opportunity for dancers of a like age and grade to compete against each other in an open arena. Feis is an irish word and when translated means ‘festival’.
The feis often has live musicians and will most definitely have a live audience.
Dancers at a feis represent their own dance class and can travel from all over the world to participate.
Be sure to read the feis tips if attending your first one, it’ll make it a more enjoyable event!
Ensure you arrive at least half an hour before you are scheduled to dance; this will give you time to register, and get the general feeling for the hall. Quite often there are large crowds and it may take some time to find a seat
